Envirowest is currently conducting a review and an assessment of environmental impacts of 5 small waterpower projects within the upper catchment areas of Stave and Chehalis lakes, north of Mission, British Columbia. Elements of the impact assessment include: a valuation of forest stands within Old Growth Management Areas; determination of fish distribution and valuation of fish habitats; identification of species at risk, including determination of occurrence and valuation of habitats; and establishment of instream flow requirements for fish and species at risk, specifically tailed frog. The impact assessment establishes a comprehensive inventory of environmental resources. We are currently working with the client to develop a fish and wildlife habitat management plan for the design and operation of the projects and an environmental management plan for the construction of the projects.
