July 31, 2012 | Yorkson Creek Habitat CorridorsThe headwaters of Yorkson and West Munday creeks are located south of Highway No.1 in the Township of Langley’s Yorkson Neighbourhood. The rural landscape of this area was once drained by a dense network of manmade watercourses that flowed only seasonally.Envirowest has designed and overseen the construction of a variety of replacement drainage features that have been integrated with development plans, and provide habitats for fish and wildlife, and treatment of stormwater quality. Envirowest facilitated environmental review processes and obtained regulatory agency approvals.\r\nGreenways are an integral component of the built-out landscape. The greenways include meandering channels with fish habitat features, a fishway, diverse native landscaping, bio-filtration ponds and wetlands, and a public pathway. The greenways successfully integrate productive fish and wildlife habitat features with elements of the neighbourhood’s stormwater system.\r\n |
