Yorkson Creek Habitat Corridors

The headwaters of Yorkson and West Munday creeks are located south of Highway No.1 in the Township of Langley’s Yorkson Neighbourhood. The rural landscape of this area was once drained by a dense network of manmade watercourses that flowed only seasonally.Envirowest has designed and overseen the construction of a variety of replacement drainage features that have been integrated with development plans, and provide habitats for fish and wildlife, and treatment of stormwater quality. Envirowest facilitated environmental review processes and obtained regulatory agency approvals. Greenways are an integral component of the built-out landscape. The greenways include meandering channels with fish habitat features, a fishway, diverse native landscaping, bio-filtration ponds and wetlands, and a public pathway. The greenways successfully integrate productive fish and wildlife habitat features with elements of the neighbourhood’s stormwater system.

Milltown Marina CEAA Screening Report Issued

A Canadian Environmental Assessment Act Screening Report has been issued for the Milltown Marina. The project, a partnership between the Musqueam Indian Band and the Bastion Development Corporation, is a commercial marina for recreational vessels located upon Richmond Island and within Eburne Slough, along the northern shoreline of the North Arm of the Fraser River. The Screening Report has determined: “The likelihood of residual effects occurring will be negligible, provided the proponent implements the mitigation measures outlined in the project application and as required by regulatory agencies. No significant adverse residual effects are likely with proper implementation of the identified mitigation measures.”Envirowest, working with Envirochem Services Inc., developed many of the mitigation measures cited by the report.Further information regarding the project can be obtained at portmetrovancouver.com/en/projects/OngoingProjects/Tenant-Led-Projects/MilltownMarina.aspx
